Shugard

Fraud & Abuse Policy

Effective Date: September 2, 2026

Your safety is our priority. Read this policy carefully — it explains the risks of online dating fraud, how Shugard responds, and what you can do to protect yourself.

Never send money to someone you have not met in person. Shugard cannot reverse payments or refund money lost to scammers.

1. Our Zero-Tolerance Policy

Shugard has a strict zero-tolerance policy for fraud, scams, and abuse of any kind. Any member found to be engaging in fraudulent, deceptive, or abusive behavior will have their account permanently banned and may be reported to law enforcement.

This policy applies to all members regardless of membership tier, account age, or prior standing on the platform.

2. Common Scams to Watch For

Online dating platforms are unfortunately targeted by scammers. Be alert to the following warning signs:

Romance Scams: Someone who quickly professes deep feelings, refuses to video chat, and eventually asks for money, gift cards, or cryptocurrency. These individuals are almost always fraudulent.

Fake Profiles: Profiles using stolen photos, false identities, or fabricated personal details. If someone seems too good to be true, they may be.

Financial Requests: Any request for money, wire transfers, gift cards, cryptocurrency, or financial assistance — regardless of the stated reason — should be treated as a major red flag.

Phishing Links: Messages containing links to external sites asking you to log in, verify your account, or enter payment information outside of Shugard.

Blackmail & Sextortion: Individuals who obtain intimate photos or videos and then threaten to share them unless you pay money.

Fake Emergency Situations: Stories about sudden medical emergencies, travel problems, or legal trouble designed to elicit sympathy and financial assistance.

3. Shugard Money Disclaimer

Shugard Money is a feature that allows members to send and receive money between each other. By using Shugard Money, you acknowledge and agree that:

• All money transfers are voluntary transactions between consenting adults.

• Shugard is not a bank, financial institution, or money services business.

• Shugard does not guarantee the identity, intentions, or legitimacy of any member requesting or receiving money.

• Shugard takes a 10% platform fee on all money transfers. This fee is non-refundable.

• Once a payment is processed, it cannot be reversed by Shugard. Disputes must be resolved between the parties involved.

• You should never send money to someone you have not met in person and verified to your own satisfaction.

• Sending money to a scammer is not grounds for a refund from Shugard. We strongly advise against sending money to anyone you have not thoroughly vetted.

4. No Guarantee Against Fraud

Despite our moderation efforts, Shugard cannot guarantee that all members are who they claim to be. We use automated risk scoring and human review to detect suspicious accounts, but no system is perfect.

You are solely responsible for your own interactions and financial decisions on the platform. Shugard is not liable for any financial losses, emotional harm, or other damages resulting from interactions with fraudulent members.

5. How to Report Fraud or Abuse

If you encounter a suspicious profile or believe you have been targeted by a scammer:

• Use the "Report" button on any member profile to file an abuse report.

• Email us at [email protected] with details of the incident.

• If you have suffered financial loss, file a report with the FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) at ic3.gov.

• Contact your bank or payment provider immediately if you have sent money.

We review all reports and take action — including account suspension and law enforcement referrals — where warranted.

6. Prohibited Conduct

The following behaviors are strictly prohibited on Shugard and will result in immediate account termination:

• Creating fake profiles or impersonating another person.

• Soliciting money, gifts, or financial assistance through deception.

• Sending unsolicited explicit content.

• Harassment, threats, or intimidation of any member.

• Attempting to move conversations off-platform to avoid detection.

• Using Shugard to facilitate prostitution, human trafficking, or any illegal activity.

• Accessing the platform from a restricted geographic region (EEA, UK, etc.).

• Creating multiple accounts to evade a ban.

7. Law Enforcement Cooperation

Shugard cooperates fully with law enforcement agencies. We will disclose member information, including account details, IP addresses, and message logs, in response to valid legal process (subpoenas, court orders, warrants) or when we believe disclosure is necessary to prevent imminent harm.

If you are a law enforcement officer seeking information about a Shugard account, please contact us at [email protected].

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Shugard disclaims all liability for losses — financial, emotional, reputational, or otherwise — arising from fraud, scams, or abuse by other members. Your use of the platform is at your own risk.
